Output Formats
CinCraft Export can generate output data in various formats. These include:
- FBX
- Alembic
- Universal Scene Description (USD)
- JSON
- OpenEXR Distortion and Undistortion STMaps
The selection of which formats are generated is done inside the “Settings” panel, which can be reached in the upper right corner of the UI:
Simply enable the checkbox next to each file type that you wish to export:
When exporting lens distortion in from of 32Bit OpenEXR STMaps, two further options are provided:
- Width – This defines the overall size of the EXR image that is generated, the height is automatically calculated from the aspect ratio. The width of the full-size camera plate should be used.
- Overscan – This allows you to define the amount of overscan, this should match the chosen amount of overscan applied to the camera when rendering in the DCC (Digital Content Creation) software.
When exporting lens distortion, an OpenEXR distortion STMap is generated per frame. This can result in a large amount of file space being required as well additional time added to the export process.
To help minimise this, it is possible to enter smaller width values and then resize the EXR inside the compositing software using a reformat node.
For instance, a 4096 width could be exported as 512 and then reformatted back to 4096, this will reduce the file size by a factor of 8.
In the lower section of the settings panel, it is possible to define a file and folder naming structure:
“Tokens” can be used to automatically define parts of the file/folder name based on the selected data; these can be selected using the “+” icon:
In addition to this, a manually entered string can be typed into either of the fields.
In a last step, all settings can be saved by clicking on “Save” button.
