To ensure good quality tracking it is important to ensure that the CamBar has sensible settings for its exposure, gain and gamma. The correct settings are situational and depend on the lighting of the environment that the system is being used in.
Aim to adjust the settings so that the view from the CamBar is evenly exposed, the images below give an example of poor vs good settings
Poor Settings
Good Settings
Some general guidelines on managing the CamBar settings
- Try increasing the gain before using large exposure values. Increased exposure values introduce the risk of motion blur which can be a factor for tracking stability
- The auto exposure is a good solution and will typically provide a good result without direct user input
- When working in bright environments, the ND filter should be used to help expose the CamBar correctly
- After making substantial changes to the CamBar settings, it can be advantageous to “Clean the pointcloud” before proceeding, this will clear out any redundant tracking points that are no longer valid with the new CamBar settings. The cleanup option can be found from the tracking menu in the upper right of the dashboard.
