"Sliding" can be tricky to troubleshoot. The underlying causes are often interrelated — things like miscalibration, incorrect lens or camera settings can all present similarly. It’s easy to get caught in a loop of small adjustments without ever breaking the cycle or identifying the root cause. To avoid this, it helps to approach troubleshooting methodically. There are essentially three sources of error to investigate

1. <font color="#2166ae">**Equipment**</font> - Issues arrising from inaccuracies or mistakes in the equipment management phase
2. <font color="#2166ae">**Alignment**</font> - Where the tracking is not correctly aligned to the physical space
3. <font color="#2166ae">**Tracking**</font> - Errors that are caused by miscalibration of the tracking setup, such as lens calibration or CamBar offset

In the following sections we will cover the important troubleshooting checks for each category

## Equipment Checks

:::hint{type="success"}
**Easiest**

Equipment checks are typically quick to check and should be done initially to rule out simple operator error early on
:::

### Is the right calibration selected?

Ensure that the correct calibration is selected in the tracking configuration, an incorrectly selected calibration will mean that the wrong lens data will be used by the system.

### Are the FIZ encoder values correct?

Do the lens encoder values received from the system match the physical values on the lens? A discrepancy here will mean Scenario will use the wrong lens data.

### Is the Sensor Size Correct?

The sensor size values provided in the Scenario camera database do not account for any additional settings that the camera may apply such as magnification or croppping. Confirm that your camera signal does not differ from the selected value used when adding the camera

### Does the Camera/Lens match the configuration it was calibrated in?

Has the camera or lens been modified in a way that will change it's calibration since it was added to the equipment manager?

## Alignment Checks

:::hint{type="warning"}
**Medium**

Alignment issues typically require careful measuring and checking of the camera position to ensure everything is configured correctly
:::

### Is the zero point position correct?

Use the 3D tracking view and other dashboard views to confirm that the world origin is in the expected position. User error or incorrect tracking recovery can result in the world origin being offset from it's expected position

### Is the "floor" level?

Ensure that the tracking is aligned correctly to the environment.

The "<font color="#2166ae">**Height Sample**</font>" option in the alignment panel is an excellent tool to assist with this. Alternatively, manually moving the camera to different parts of the environment and using the manual floor orientation adjustment is also possible

## Tracking Checks

:::hint{type="danger"}
**Hard**

Tracking checks are important calibration steps that require a good knowledge of the calibration processes used in Scenario
:::

### Is the CamBar Scale under 1%

**Test** - Use the <font color="#2166ae">**Measure**</font> tool to confirm the CamBar is within tolerance

### Is the CamBar offset correct?

**Test** - Using a measuring tape, compare the CamBar offset values in the UI to the real world values

### Is the lens calibrated well?

There are a number of different ways to check the accuracy of the lens calibration:

**Test** - Does the calibration cone slide more when panning the camera to place the cone on the edge of the frame

**Test** - Draw out a 2m grid on the floor of the environment that matches the calibration cones in Scenario. When framing the zero point in the centre of the camera view, do the cones appear closer/further than 2m away?
