Center Shift
This step is only available when calibrating a zoom lens
Centre shift accounts for the any misalignment that can happen when a lens is mounted to a camera. Centre shift can vary each time a lens is mounted, and it is good practice to repeat this step when remounting lenses that exhibit significant centre shift.
The user is guided through the centre shift process by the UI, to begin, press the “start centre shift calibration” button
Find a clear and fixed (not moving) feature in your environment
Zoom the lens fully tight and align the feature with the red crosshair displayed in the UI. Adjust the focus so that the feature is clearly visible
Ensure the pan and tilt of the camera is fixed so that the camera is unable to move at all
Zoom out fully on the lens
Visually check to see if the red crosshair has drifted from the feature it was aligned to. The “Magnification” slider in the lower left corner can be used to help see any drift
If the red crosshair has moved, it can be adjusted back into place using the onscreen gizmo
The process can be repeated to check that the update is applied correctly
