Encoder Mapping
Encoder mapping is not possible with the /i & XD serial cable or LDS/SONY SDI metadata
Encoder mapping is the process of correlating the physical position of the lens barrels to the values marked on the rings
Encoder mapping is available for the three “Channels”; focus, iris and zoom of a lens.
To map the encoders, start with any of the three available channels and position the lens barrel at the physical limit of its rotation. Input the value marked on the lens barrel into the hover box on the respective channel and then press the “+” icon to add a mapping point.
Continue through the rest of the markings on the lens barrel, then repeat the process for the remaining channels
- Limits - Ensure that values are added at the extreme limits of the barrel movement. If no values are marked on the lens at this point, then the next nearest engraving can be used
- Infinity – For infinity values on the focus, any suitably large number can be substituted, typically doubling the nearest engraved number provides a suitable result
If wishing to map the Iris channel when using the CinCraft external encoders, it is possible to repurpose either the zoom or focus encoder.
